Creating quirky, wonderfully wonky ceramics packed with personality, a little chaos and a whole lot of character. Because who wants ordinary when you can have something wonderfully weird?

Hi, I'm Jacque!

The hands (and occasional chaos) behind The Ceramic Shack!

I discovered my love for pottery a little later in life, and I've been getting my hands muddy ever since!

I'm a mum to two grown-up daughters and a proud grandma to a granddaughter. About two years ago, I decided to try pottery and signed up for a six-week course at a local studio. Little did I know, I'd be completely hooked!

What I fell in love with most was the freedom of not having to be perfect. No two pieces are ever quite the same, and that's exactly what I love about it. A little wobble here, an unexpected shape there — it all adds to the character!

Since that first course, I've continued learning, experimenting and trying new techniques. I've explored different types of clay, including earthenware, terracotta, stoneware and porcelain. Each has its own quirks, and I love discovering what I can create with them.

You'll probably notice that my pottery isn't exactly conventional. I have a soft spot for the weird, the wonky and the wonderfully imperfect. I tend to gravitate towards darker colours and unusual designs, and I think my creations reflect a little bit of who I am. Why be perfectly polished when you can have a bit of personality?

Pottery has given me so much more than a creative hobby. It's brought wonderful friendships, including my friendship with The Pottery Sung, opportunities to learn new things, and a place where I can switch off, get messy, and create.

And now, after plenty of encouragement from my daughters and family, I've finally decided to take the plunge and share my creations with the world!

I'll admit, I wasn't entirely convinced at first. But there's only so much pottery you can give to friends and family before they start running out of shelf space!

So, here I am... The Ceramic Shack is officially happening!

I'm not promising perfectly symmetrical pots or flawless finishes, but I can promise every piece is handmade, completely unique, and made with a whole lot of love (and probably a few wonky moments along the way).

Welcome to my little world of clay, creativity and perfectly imperfect pottery.
